Cardioprotective effect of all-trans retinoic acid on cisplatin induced cardiotoxicity in rats

 Materials and Methods: wistar albino rats were used. Control group received single daily doses 1 ml/kg saline ATRA ATRA(7,5mg/kg/day) intraperitoneally (i.p.) for 10 days. ATRA+CP a dose CP(7mg/kg) i.p. fourth day days (7,5mg/kg/day) treatment. The only cisplatin(7mg/kg) given 4th After treatment, groups compared based cardiac histopathology findings.
 Results: Necrosis, cytoplasmic vacuolization, congestion, hemorrhage edema more common than control group). Necrosis vacuolization + cisplatin was observed statistically significantly less frequently group. 
 Conclusion: This study confirmed that therapy had destructive heart tissue, showed could histopathologically prevent cisplatin-induced cardiotoxicity.
